Well the issue of remuneration remains a stumbling block as many individuals find it difficult if not impossible to purchase all what they need in their day to day consumptions.
Civil servants are still getting pathetic salary that is below the poverty datum line and worse still lectureres from higher learning institutions are getting less than United States, five hundred dollars . In place like Bulawayo, which is the second largest city are facing the cross rate problem. Students from National University of Science and Technology have been complaining about the rental charges that are hampered by the cross rate. In an interview with Caven Masuku, one of the student who prefered anonymite said that they are being charged US$50 per head and there will be stay in pair sometime in threes per room in Selborn Park.
Fees again is another challenge faced by many people in Zimbabwe currently. Most university are charging in foreign currency and with the remuneration that most urban population are getting, it is hard to raise all what is required. Worse still those who are in rural area depend on farming and can only get money after selling their produces find it difficult to raise money to send their children to colleges and universities. The good thing is that despite all the problems faced by the majority, food is available in shops and people can at list manage to buy. The rain so far has started and most people are looking forward to cultivate their fields. Last year urban agriculture enables the urban dweller to yield more than those in rural areas.
The problem of shortage of farming inputs still remains as a challenge since maize seedling that people have purchased is said to be fake one. It has been broadcast through our local media that people should buy maize seeds from well know shops that specialises in maize seed. This follows announcement that more than fifty tonne of maize seedling that has been imported to the country has been found to be low standard.
The Global Political Agreement (GNU) despite the challenges that it faces came as a sigh of relief to many Zimbabweans who had despaired hope after the go throw hard times for the past ten years. The announcement made that the Zim dollar is likely to bounce back have cause some untold rest to many people. Zimbabwe needs time to resuscitate its economy before it resort back to its currency. Zimbabwe as a country has suffered double blows from their leaders who did not take the plight of their people. Families are teared apart as couples have to part ways to fend food for their children. It is everyone hope at the moment that what was experienced before need not to be experienced twice.
